Digital product definition audit
We help you to analyze in depth the requirements and scope of a digital project before development. This process ensures that all parties involved are aligned and share the same objectives.
Software and SaaS definition audits
Before developing a software or SaaS platform, it is essential to precisely define its scope, functionalities and business model.
Our audit assesses product feasibility, aligns user needs with strategic objectives and detects potential risks prior to development, ensuring that the solution has a solid foundation for market success.
Web and ecommerce definition auditing
The success of a website starts with a clear definition of its objectives, structure and user experience.
Our audit reviews information architecture, content needs, navigability and conversion optimization. We identify potential friction points, propose strategic improvements and ensure that web development is built on a well-defined foundation, aligned with your business and your users’ expectations.
We understand your product through behavior.
We integrate Behavioral Mapping into our methodology to see what is not seen: real decisions, frictions and motivations.
A validated framework that helps us understand how people interact with your product and where the opportunities are to improve their experience.
- We identify key behavioral patterns
- We detect frictions and motivators on every screen
- We propose solutions attacking the detected pains

🔍 What exactly is a definition audit and how is it different from a complete redesign?
The definition audit is the phase prior to any platform redesign. It serves to understand and delimit the scope of the project, aligning team and client. At Audax we collect and structure the key information, as well as requirements and technical constraints, and with this context we prepare a series of deliverables to explain how we should approach your project in the following phases of design and development.
The difference with redesign? The audit answers the “what and why” (what to build, for whom and with what priorities) and lays the groundwork. Redesign executes the “how”: information architecture, detailed UX, wireframes, visual UI, prototypes and readiness for development.
This methodology is applied both to projects in operation that require an in-depth update of their digital platform, as well as to initiatives that are starting from scratch and have not yet been launched on the market.
⚙️ What is the process of a definition audit like?
We organize the audit in two major blocks-research and definition-with a closing where we align plan and budget. Scope and depth are tailored to each client, but we follow a clear flow to understand the context, delimit what to build and prioritize it.
In the research we started with a kick-off and stakeholder interviews to capture objectives and constraints. Then we conduct specific workshops where we go deeper with targeted questions and sketch screens and flows to visualize the solution. If the product is already in use, we interview users to obtain real insights. We complete with a competitive benchmark and a comparative table that places the platform in its market.
In definition we synthesize everything in user stories, functionality matrix(MVP and priorities), user flows, customer journey maps, information architecture and navigation, and a prioritized list of insights.
We close with a visual presentation of conclusions, a roadmap with milestones, time and cost estimates of the next steps of the project.
When is it advisable to request a product definition audit for my project?
The product definition audit is useful at any stage where you need more clarity and a clear roadmap to move forward. It also depends on the stage of maturity of the project and the uncertainty being detected.
It can be requested at different points in the project cycle: before developing a new product, when there is an initial prototype but priorities are not yet defined; in already active products, if the results do not meet expectations or users do not understand the functionalities; prior to a large scalability, such as a redesign or a new vertical within the project where documentation, alignment and prioritization are needed.
In short, an audit helps you to detect problems and opportunities in time, and to make more confident decisions before investing more resources.
⏱️ How much time is saved compared to traditional development?
We drastically reduce Time-to-Market. By eliminating much of the manual programming of the interface, we can launch complex corporate websites or MVPs in a matter of weeks, not months. This allows you to validate your business idea or revamp your digital image long before your competition, at a fraction of the usual cost.
⏳ How long does a definition audit usually take?
The duration depends on the scope. Auditing a simple platform with a couple of roles is not the same as auditing a complex platform with multiple roles and functionalities. For reference, in most cases it is completed in 4-6 weeks. If the project is more demanding or the client asks for more deliverables and interviews, we may need some more time.
Our goal during this period is to deliver actionable results (insights, flows, functionality matrix, etc.) with which you can estimate time and budget for the project you want to create or update.
💰 How much does a definition audit cost?
The cost of a definition audit depends on the type of product, its complexity and the level of detail required. In all cases, we prepare a tailor-made proposal, transparent and adapted to your needs.
📦 What exactly will I receive in the deliverables?
You will receive a full report with a summary of the main findings, conclusions and recommendations, based on the work carried out: interviews, workshops and competitive analysis.
The documentation includes key deliverables such as the matrix of prioritized functionalities and user stories, along with user flows, customer journey maps and visual information architecture proposals that facilitate the understanding of the proposed solutions and decision making.
Deliverables are tailored to the maturity level and needs of each project, so their scope can vary in depth or level of detail to always provide a clear result.
🏗️ What kind of projects can you audit?
We perform definition audits for any type of digital platform: B2B/B2C marketplace, multi-role SaaS (admin/supplier/customer), e-commerce, LMS (online training), booking app, patient portal, social network/community, fintech (payments/wallet), CRM/ERP, logistics platform…
It doesn’t matter if you are in the start-up phase or if you already have a platform in production: we can help you discover improvement opportunities that will boost your users’ experience.
🗣️ Can I review and give feedback on the recommendations you propose?
Yes, absolutely. Our goal is to help you make good decisions, not impose them. We deliver and explain each deliverable and the decisions that support our recommendations; however, your feedback is what determines and validates those deliverables and therefore, the next steps to be taken.
In addition, we are always available to resolve doubts or review the approach together if you need it. The audit is a living and collaborative tool.
🎨 Do you also deliver visual proposals or wireframes with the audit?
No. In the definition audit we do not deliver final designs or closed visual proposals. The focus is on understanding and narrowing the scope. During the workshops we can generate low fidelity sketches (quick wireframes with text) to illustrate flows and screens; these sketches are included as support within the documentation, but they are not final designs.
What we do deliver is mostly technical documentation, the complete visual proposals (detailed wireframes, UI and prototypes) are developed in later UX/UI phases, once the audit is validated.
🚀 What happens after the audit, can you help us with the implementation?
Yes, once the audit is finished, we can turn the definition work into designs: first at UX level (structure and flows) and then in UI (visual design). We can cover the entire platform or just the flows you choose, take care of the implementation and development and, if you need it, support with branding and digital marketing. Contact us and we will accompany you in the next steps of the project.
🕒 What dedication do you expect from the client during the audit?
Normally the client’s dedication is mostly at the beginning of the project. As a reference, stakeholder interviews add up to 3-5 hours in total (e.g. several 45-60 min meetings), and more specific workshops add up to 4-6 hours (60-90 min sessions). From then on we work autonomously, asking only for brief validations and asynchronous feedback on materials.
Can the audit be done 100% remotely and in several languages/zones?
Yes, we do it 100% remote by default (Meet/Zoom). If it fits, we can organize face-to-face meetings in Valencia, Madrid or Seville. We also adapt to different languages (Spanish, Valencian and English) and different time zones without any problem.
🔒 How do you deal with privacy and confidentiality (NDA, sensitive data)?
We apply data minimization and restricted access to necessary equipment. We do not share sensitive information with third parties and keep materials in repositories with controlled access. If needed, we sign an NDA (unilateral or bilateral).
📂 What delivery formats do you use and how are they shared (Figma, PDF, Notion, Drive)?
Our main tool is Figma. We share collaborative links with the client (very easy to use) and, to speed up the review and final presentation, we export the deliverables in PDF and host them in a Google Drive folder. If you prefer, we adapt to your tools (Google Drive, SharePoint, Confluence, Microsoft 365/OneDrive) so that you receive everything in the format that suits you.
